PCI DSS Tokenisation Guidelines 12 August 2011 The PCI SSC have published the PCI DSS Tokenisation Guidelines providing guidance on the use of tokenisation. This technology is used to replace the Primary Account Number (PAN) with a value 'token' which removes the need for a merchant to retain sensitive customer PAN data.
